Shreveport Police Union, I.U.P.A. Local #275 Members in the Shreveport Police Department COPS Bureau spent some time with local kids, teaching them about police work, playing sports with them, and giving them important safety tips!

Shreveport Police Department posted about it on social media:

  • The Community Oriented Policing Bureau is always finding ways to connect with our youngest citizens. Officer Dowell stopped by New Life Baptist Church to talk with kids ages 4–8 about back-to-school safety, gun safety, and stranger danger. We’re proud to have officers who go the extra mile to keep our community safe and informed—starting with our kids!
  • Last week, some of our community’s children had the special opportunity to meet Shreveport Police Department Hostler Mr. Anthony and one of our beautiful horses, Cupcake. Anthony is the one who takes care of our horses, and thanks to his hard work, our horses always look their best.  There’s just something about them that always brings out the biggest smiles.
  • Monday was a slam dunk! Our Community-Oriented Policing Bureau (CLOs and D.A.R.E.) faced off against the David Raines SPAR kids in a friendly basketball tournament. Officer Hancock even showed off his moves with the cheer squad—now that’s team spirit! We truly have some of the most fun and down-to-earth officers around. Just look at those smiles!

Each week, the I.U.P.A. Briefing Room features a photo that exemplifies the valuable part of the community that our Law Enforcement Officers all across the U.S. are and their positive impact as well as their dedication, service, and sacrifice.

Submit your photos today to be considered for the photo of the week next week to alinaj@iupa.org.
